Happy New Year from SEO Blueprint (+ Some Updates on the Horizon)

First of all, from everyone here at Detailed (the team behind SEO Blueprint) I want to wish you a Happy New Year. 🎉

There are a lot of SEO courses out there online so for you to put your trust in the one we've created is something we massively appreciate, and we'll keep improving the course for many years to come as a way of saying thank you in return.

We've been a little quiet over the past few months publicly, but a lot of time has been spent behind the scenes working on a complete publishing schedule for 2023.

To start with, we have a brand new design for the Detailed blog.

It won't be to everyone's taste (I don't think any website is) but I primarily wanted to make sure it was clean, simple and made the content easy to read. You may need to click 'display images' in your email client to see the graphic above.

I also wanted to integrate multiple page styles, so we now have a Behind the Scenes area (3 articles in there at the moment, with lots more to come) that looks completely different to a typical blog post.

There's also an article on there I haven't tweeted about, emailed, or announced in any way.

This was not just choosing a new theme.

We literally built something custom from the ground up, with a lot of little features I haven't seen elsewhere (I'll write about that in the future, as many are easy to miss but I see in our analytics they're being used).

If things go to plan, we'll publish more than 10 detailed guides in 2023. (That doesn't sound like a lot, unless you consider we've written less than 10 guides in the history of the site).

These guides will aim to help you take your websites to the next level, with concepts I don't believe have been written about before.

Since Detailed is an SEO blog I thought the above would be relevant to you, but we have dozens of private updates in the wings for SEO Blueprint members as well.

We've been filling up our Trello over the second half of 2022 with brand new concepts I think we'll be the first to share. Ever.

We also have a few videos we want to go back and update as well.

All new concepts get put into a Google Sheet where I rate them by excitement (I know, I'm weird).

The idea being - and it has always stood me well - that the more excited I am to work on and share something, the more insightful and useful you'll find it.

There are currently 46 items on that list, and my excitement goes as low as '4'.

Some of these just at the ideas stage, but many are more than half complete.

A couple of items on the list have had literal months of development work put into them, and many thousands of dollars, and they'll be going inside the course.

Your SEO Blueprint membership came with lifetime updates, so of course there will be no charge for these.

When I started writing this it was just going to be a "Happy New Year" post and I wasn't going to click the 'Send as email' button (I don't send most updates here as emails) but I got a little carried away in the above.

I think that's all for now.

I know what really matters is what we publish next, and how useful that is for your online success, so let's focus on that.

Thank you for being here. Some amazing things are coming...

Over 30 Minutes of New Local SEO Content Strategy Training

I'm very happy to announce that we have a brand new Local SEO training video inside SEO Blueprint (with lots more updates on the way).

Lucian is back with over 30 minutes of training on how to handle your content strategy. Most importantly, Lucian doesn't just talk about theory, but shares actual insights and examples on what has worked for him.

You can find the video here: https://seoblueprint.com/best-content-strategy/

I'm super excited to be able to share this one!

Lots more on the way...

The Next Video in Our Local SEO Series is Live

A few days ago we went live with a new video in the recently announced brand new Local SEO Series.

In this latest addition, Blueprint member (and Local SEO guru) Lucian Florian takes you through some of his best tips to help you rank better in Google Maps & the Map Pack.

Here's the direct link: https://seoblueprint.com/win-google-maps/

The thing I love more than anything about Lucian's teaching is that he's focused on things that have actually worked for him and his clients, rather than just theory.

We have a new video in the series coming very shortly, which I can't wait to share!

Introducing a Brand New Local SEO Series

As many of you know, pretty much the only thing I (Glen) don't teach inside SEO Blueprint is Local SEO.

The reason for that is simple: I don't do local SEO for myself or for clients, and I'm not very knowledgable on the subject (it's really something you should be focused on, as there are just so many facets to it).

If we want SEO Blueprint to be the best cutting-edge SEO training online, it's imperative that I have someone else teach this section of the course. We've had some great teachers in our Local SEO module so far who I'm always grateful for meeting, and now I'm happy to introduce one more.

You can learn more about your new teacher and the upcoming series, here: https://seoblueprint.com/new-local-seo-insights/

The next video will be coming shortly!

Our First Ever Superpixels Audit: A SaaS That Has Raised $17M

We've just went live with our first ever Superpixels-focused audit.

In non Glen-made-up-this-word terms, that means we're looking at a site from every other angle than straight up technical SEO.

It's a SaaS brand that has raised $17M USD to date, and we've reviewed it with permission, here: https://seoblueprint.com/brand-has-raised-17m/

Now of course, we haven't forgotten that this is an SEO-focused course. The word 'SEO' is in our name, after all.

That said, a huge part of Superpixels is about taking things to the next level once you've already taken care of things like Technical SEO (at least as much as you can) and you want to make your life easier when it comes to link building and converting more customers.

I genuinely hadn't looked at this site for close to a year before reviewing it, but definitely found a few things I think should be improved.

I really hope you like this one!

SEO Blueprint 2 Is Now Live (Free for All Members)

Last week we soft launched SEO Blueprint 2 in our Facebook group and the feedback has been incredible.

Here's a sample of the comments (you may need to click 'display images' in your email client):

Darren's "This is the best thing I read online in 2 years" truly made my day.

I also included Hannes' "Is this still focusing on SEO?" question because this is such a radical change to what we've shared in the past.

Because of this, I think I should reiterate what I said to Gabor's great comment (among 75 on our announcement post).

In essence, after doing 1,500+ video audits, we keep finding the same SEO issues over and over again. Things that should definitely be fixed, but 99% of those fixes are already inside the course.

The thing that made me feel "guilty" is that even if most sites take care of those things, I just don't see them being successful. In other words, they could follow every single step in SEO Blueprint version 1 (or any SEO course) and they wouldn't be any closer to online success.

I couldn't envision anyone buying their products, sharing their articles on social media, linking to them, joining their newsletter or any other kind of positive interaction. They simply weren't memorable or remarkable in any way.

I don't mean that to be harsh. It's just a problem we saw, and we wanted to come up with the solution.

It almost made me feel guilty as I say, because our training would not change that.
And keep in mind that a lot of interactions we have with people who are struggling to rank and make money online basically often amounts to "I'll have to get a day job if this doesn't work" or "I've invested X amount of money that I don't want to lose" and so on.

So the next iteration of our course is basically the answer to "Hey, you've got these main fundamentals taken care of...but that's it." Let's help you take things even further so you are memorable and remarkable. So people do opt-in, share, link to and purchase what you have going on.

Click this link to see the new word we now associate with those things that are truly remarkable online and get access to the entirety of SEO Blueprint 2 (with lots more on the way!).

Or if you need to copy and paste the URL: https://seoblueprint.com/superpixels-welcome/

Please note that the design will change before we open the doors for new members. It's set up this way so you can easily see what is new to the training.

I'm so excited to finally be sharing this with you. Thank you for the continued motivation to make something incredible!

Auditing the Site of a Large Cannabis Magazine Publisher

While this audit isn't too different from other audits we have inside SEO Blueprint, I should mention that it's quite...blunt.

I cover quite a few issues on the website, but I don't go into detail on each specific one like I normally would.

Why? Well, we have so many audits where I've pointed out similar issues that I don't want to bore you.

Instead, I've tried to focus more on the site as a whole - giving attention to the breadth of the website, rather than its depth.

Here's the link: https://seoblueprint.com/cannabis-publisher/

Still, I am honored to have been able to look at the site and if anything else, it's testament to our course that all of the problems found have individual videos covering them in a lot of depth.

There's also a special announcement around the 15 minute mark if you haven't been following the comments inside the course, that I can't wait to share with you!

Auditing the Travel Site of SEO Blueprint Member, Jeremy

We've just went live with a new website audit for 2021: This time looking at the personal travel site of SEO Blueprint member, Jeremy.

Jeremy clearly knows what he's doing when it comes to SEO and building sites - and the site is in a niche that's clearly personal to him - but I (Glen) still felt like I had some good suggestions to offer.

You can view the audit here: https://seoblueprint.com/travel-site-with-passionate/

Jeremy has built a great brand and has some incredible social proof, but some areas of the website could do with a little "polish" to help him make the most of the traffic he's getting.

Thanks for the opportunity to look at the site, Jeremy, and we wish you the best of luck with it going forward!

Episode Two of our 'Diagnosing Detailed' Series is Now Live

On the 19th of January we announced a brand new series where we would be diagnosing issues with our own website, Detailed.com, and fixing them along the way.

Today I'm happy to be sharing the second episode (the first can be found here), where I essentially "click around" and find everything I'm not happy with.

While this sounds random, it's a process we always implement for clients and is something we've used to find even non-SEO related issues they never new existed (but were very grateful to learn about).

An honest note to save your time: You're not likely to learn much regarding improving your own websites in this video. Rather, see this is as a video to see what I'm happy to critique about myself.

Here's the link: https://seoblueprint.com/diagnosing-finding-issues/

If you watch it all the way through, you'll also learn about a couple of tools on the Detailed website there's a good chance you didn't know existed.

P.S. Later today we're opening up SEO Blueprint for the first time in 9 months. If you know anyone who might benefit from the course, we would love it you passed it along (zero pressure, of course).

Our New SERP Scraper is Now Live for Windows and Mac (Beta)

Today I'm very excited to be sharing the first version of our SERP Scraper tool, OpenSearch, which was designed to replace URL Profiler which we feature in the course.

URL Profiler's tool no longer works, so we built our own, exclusively for members.

Here's a preview of how it looks (you may need to click 'display images' if you're viewing this in an email client):

We initially released this in our Facebook Group last week as a Mac only offering, but I'm happy to tell you the Windows version is now live.

Please note that this software is in beta (it's the first version) so we will look to improve it.

You can get the download links, and view our terms of use, here.

The 'terms of use' is a bit boring, we know, but we do have to point out that scraping search results is against Google's Terms of Service.

To help protect you, we purposefully limit how many keywords you can scrape search results for to 25 per term. We also have a 'random' timing option in place as well.

Wondering what you would do with a tool like this? You can learn more about what we previously taught over here, but you'll find many possible use cases in our entire on-site SEO blueprint.

We really hope you get value from this.
