Updating our 'The State of SEO' Report for November, 2024

Back in May of this year I shared a huge 5,000+ word report on the current state of SEO, as I saw it.

It's something we had never done for SEO Blueprint before because while things are technically always changing, I like to think a lot of the fundamentals remain the same.

Still, 2024 was an interesting year for search, so it felt like something I had to share.

I've now began updating the report for November, with a lot more promising news than we shared in May.

You can view the report in our Goliath Playbook module, here.

The Detailed Site:Search Extension Has Been Updated for Chrome v131

Over the last few weeks, Google updated Chrome to version 131, which unfortunately broke our Detailed Site:Search extension.

It's definitely not our most popular tool (~500 weekly users, vs 350,000 weekly users for the Detailed SEO Extension) but it's something we massively rely on when auditing sites.

We also know it's used by a lot of SEO Blueprint members, as many of you reached out to us as soon as Chrome updated to let us know it was no longer working.

We've replied to everyone individually (thanks for reaching out!), but also wanted to post an update here for all members to let you know it's working again.

We're just waiting for Chrome store approval, which should take around 24-48 hours.

You can get the Detailed Site:Search extension here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/detailed-site-search/loblhceoipmbghoakodijfebkbfodkmf?hl=en-US

Our SuperHooks Report Gets an Update

If you haven't checked out the Superpixels section of SEO Blueprint in a while, you might want to give it a look.

We've quietly been updating a number of modules, with SuperHooks being the latest to get a refresh.

Our primary focus is always going to be on what you can do to get more targeted search engine traffic to your website, but we want to help you convert and build a connection with those people better as well.

We've updated the Footer Module of Our Digital Goliaths Report

If you haven't yet went through the Digital Goliaths reporting - first introduced with SEO Blueprint 3 - then this might be your sign to check back in.

We've just made some updates to one of our research modules, which you can see here: https://seoblueprint.com/super-footer-links/

I love spotting these insights in the wild, so had to add some more to the list.

BIG NEWS: SEO Blueprint 3 is now live!

Hey everyone 👋

I'm really excited to share that as of today, the next iteration of SEO Blueprint, version 3, is now live.

As some quick history, we first launched SEO Blueprint in the middle of 2019, and went live with version two in 2022.

Now, two years on from the second iteration of our program, we have new insights to share and countless new updates to the training.

You can watch the launch announcement video here: https://seoblueprint.com/welcome-blueprint/

The update comes with a ton of refreshes throughout the program, as well as new modules in the form of a module we call, Playbook.

You can get a link to that here: https://seoblueprint.com/super-playbook-welcome/

Just like we did with SEO Blueprint 2 where we used our Superpixels modules as a base to build upon (new modules have been added, and we've refreshed countless screenshots and links), we have plans to massively build upon the Playbook section as well.

I really hope you're enjoying the updates.

Updated On-Site SEO Module Shows the Mistake Which Cost Us Thousands of Clicks

There's one particular aspect of on-site SEO that webmasters tend to overlook, and making sure we check this has helped us find a lot of issues with client sites.

Not only that, but a mistake here in recent months cost us thousands of clicks before we become aware of the problem (and rectified it).

This video was already in place on SEO Blueprint, but as part of our continued goal to refresh past videos with new information and insights, it has received a much needed update and doubled in length.

You can find the updated training, here.

As always, we've highlighted certain sections of the video to make it easier for you to find which parts are most relevant and useful for your situation.

I really hope you find value in this one.

Scoop: This Link Building Method is As Exciting As Ever (Module Updated)

After months of documenting successful examples, I've just finished making an update to one of our best received link building modules.

I first shared this angle back in 2020, and now in 2024 it's as relevant as ever.

As this section of the website is open to non-members I can't say too much about it here, but if you are a member, I'll say the word "iPhone" which should give a hint.

You can find the updated training here.

I really hope you find the examples inspiring, as I'm focused on the approach here (not just for link building opportunities, but content ideas as well) more than ever before.

One of My Favourite Content Modules Has Been Updated

If you run a SaaS business, eCommerce store or local service business website, this update is for you.

A lot of what we teach in SEO Blueprint is about how to make your website and content so enticing that it makes it:

  • More likely for people to link to you naturally
  • More likely people will convert on. your site
  • More likely people will seek you out in search results
  • More likely people will miss you if you aren't ranking as well as before

While nothing is guaranteed, I think these are some of the best goals to aim for when trying to grow a business that picks up traffic from search engines.

So, if you're running a SaaS business, eCommerce store, local service business or anything where content isn't the main feature of your brand, this update is for you.

Inside you'll learn two "hidden" aspects of the following screenshot which I think make a huge difference:

I love that the main example from when I shared this a few years back is still in place (and the company are doing well) but I added two brand new examples and updated a lot of the content as well.

I hope you enjoy this one!

Our Link Building Philosophy Is As Important As Ever (New Module)

When we launched SEO Blueprint, I knew it was critical that we had a number of unique insights and tactics in place when it comes to link building.

Link building is one of the most important factors of SEO, yet at times one of the most difficult jobs to get results in, so covering it in our own way was crucial.

That said, tactics can only take you so far, and it's important to have an overall philosophy and strategy at the heart of what you're doing.

The philosophy we've covered throughout our training is as relevant today as it was when we first launched, if not more so now. I'm still focused on it daily.

Today we've started work on the first draft of a new module that aligns with what we've been teaching since day one. You can find it here.

Note: If you're reading this and aren't a member or haven't gone through our link building training in a while, keep in mind that these modules are only a tiny part of our overall link building training which now consists of 32 separate sections.

On its own, it's a fairly simple page, although I think some of the ideas are world-class. If truth be told, I primarily want to bring back awareness to the concept overall, for people wondering what approach they should be taking to build links in 2024.

There's lots more on the way. We'll keep making progress step-by-step.

Thank you for reading!

Two Brand New SuperDesign Modules Have Been Added

As I've been auditing a lot of websites over the past few months, I realised there were two sections of website designs I haven't given enough advice on.

At first they appear to have minimal value, but they're a big part of the impression people get when they come to your website or learn about your brand through social media.

The first new section is about fonts, and how I feel a lot of websites "cheapen" how people see them when choosing the wrong ones.

Not only do I share a number of examples I personally love, but more importantly I teach you how to identify the fonts any website is using, so you can benefit from inspiration you find around the web.

Next up is social media cards, and the graphics that accompany your links when you share updates on X (Twitter), Pinterest, Facebook, LinkedIn and more.

I'm not sure about you, but I feel like this is a genius graphic to use on the homepage of a packaging company focused on the USA.

This section admittedly isn't as filled out as I would like, but I only add examples when I come across them in the wild, rather than actively look to add them. This way I feel like I always add items I genuinely think look good.

If you're unfamiliar with our Superpixels concept or reading this without being an SEO Blueprint member, please keep in mind these updates are only a tiny part of our overall teaching. Creating an incredible website makes so many aspects of "traditional SEO" easier (such as a link building) which is why we like to cover it.

I felt like these were important angles to cover, so made sure we've done exactly that.
